SEY Animal Welfare Finland encourages charities and other organizations to take a stand and act for Ukraine and for a strong and united Europe.
– To strengthen Europe and European values is the most important thing we can do right now so that we can continue to live in a free democratic society. Supporting Ukraine in its war efforts, is a clear part of these values, says SEY Executive Director Kati White.
One can participate in SEY’s challenge by sharing the Europe for Ukraine image on social media or in other personal communications, and by telling what actions your charity or other organization plans to take to strengthen Europe and support Ukraine. Individuals are also welcome to participate in the challenge.
– When the world feels like it’s turning upside down, we have a duty to speak up and do our best for a better future. We also believe that NGOs must step forward as active participants in our civil society, even if foreign policy and security issues aren’t at the core of our organizations, says SEY Executive Director Kati White.
A strong Europe is in the interests of animals
SEY will continue to work for animal welfare and protecting animals.
– Animals need peace too, and Europe’s pioneering role as peacemakers is also in the interests of animals. We call on all actors, both NGOs and companies, to promote European values, freedom, truth and democracy, through their own actions and from their own perspectives, and to support Ukraine, which is at the forefront of fighting for European values.
SEY’s work focuses on keeping the perspective of animals in EU legislative work during the year.
– In a global comparison, European legislation is progressive. It is important that while we strive to treat animals better, we also act as an example to the rest of the world. Should Europe weaken or military operations expand, it will not be only humans that suffer, but other animals and our entire world as well.
