If you suspect cruelty, act

Everyone should report suspected abuse of an animal to the supervisory authority. The duty to help applies to both wild animals and pets and production animals.

It is important to report your concerns, even if you are not sure whether the law is being broken. It is the duty of the animal welfare authority to decide whether the notification gives rise to action.

If the situation requires immediate intervention, call the emergency number 112.

Call 112, if, for example:

  • the animal is subjected to violence;
  • the animal is in a place of distress from which it cannot escape
  • public safety is significantly endangered, such as in a collision with an elk or reindeer. The emergency number should be called whenever a car hits an elk or reindeer.

You can use the form below to inform us of any irregularities. By reporting the companies using the sleigh dogs, you will help us map the sleigh dog companies. At the moment, not all sleigh dog companies operating in Finland are known to the authorities. We help the authorities to carry out controls where they are needed.

Your information will be stored for processing the matter.
